My artwork began early...I started drawing at the age of 3....on my bedroom walls(!)....and quickly progressed to our dog(!).    Eventually I was given paper at school to continue my artistic efforts and save the dog from marker pens and paints!

I carried on to do my A levels including Art, but then found another passion which took over as a career after school.   Working with horses filled the next 10 years and numerous sketch books full of ideas. When time allowed I carried on sketching all the things around me, at home, at shows and anywhere I had time to sit and pull out a pencil.

My experiences with horses and the people involved, influenced my art enormously. I enjoyed catching that moment when it all went right or disastrously wrong, so that none of my paintings were staged or dressed up, but real life moments in time.

After horses I fell into the dog world. Working with gundogs and lurchermen opened my eyes to a whole new world and at least 4 new dogs to my pack.  My art took a new turn into catching sporting moments and working dogs, in particular lurchers and spaniels.  I was introduced to shooting and beating by a friend at the time and this blossomed into another area, cartoons!

From Thelwell when I was young to Bryn Parry now, I was entranced by the possibilities. On any normal day's shooting or even on a walk in the park with the dog, something daft usually happens that can be caught and shared in a cartoon. Some things are too funny to be left unshared!

I am now in a relatively normal job that allows time for countryside pursuits, my dogs and time to concentrate fully on my art.   I work mainly in watercolours or pencils to catch the movement and detail that  real life has, but occasionally feel the need to sculpt, splash oils on canvas  or collage a whole lot of media together and see what happens.

I love detail so that you can keep looking at the same painting and find something new, but my main aim is to catch the essence of the subject be it horse, dog, guinea pig or partner.

My work may not look like a photograph, but should be personal enough for you to say," Yep, that's right!"
